Volunteering Brent is supporting Brent Council to find staff opportunities to volunteer within the local community.

All sorts of roles are available, and you can split your three days of volunteering time!

Have fun and help change lives in your local community by giving up a few hours of your time to help collect the items essential to providing emergency food parcels for people facing hunger this Christmas. No experience necessary! Sign up as an individual or get a group together. Please confirm your volunteering time with your line manager prior to signing up as a volunteer. Some of the activities you may undertake:

  • Giving out shopping lists as you greet customers coming into the store.
  • Collecting donations from customers and thanking them.
  • Sorting and stacking the food collected, ready to be taken to the food bank warehouse.

Friday 30th November

Location of the role: The role requires you to volunteer at one of the following Tesco stores

Sufra NW London is a community hub that provides crisis and long-term support to disadvantaged individuals and families living in poverty. It is a Food Bank, Community Kitchen, Advice Surgeries, a Refugee Resettlement Programme, the Food Academy, an Employability Programme as well as the Growing Project on St. Raphael's Edible Garden. They need volunteers to help set up an exciting food growing project help with basic DIY and learn how to reuse organic waste!

Enjoy the hubbub and teamwork of events or mealtimes? Friendly volunteers are needed to support a daily lunch service by helping in the kitchen, preparing the dining room, and supporting / socialising with people during dinner. The role takes place from 12noon to 2.30pm every weekday – EVS time will need to be split over at least six sessions.

Participate in a schools leadership programme. You will provide high-impact tuition to young people from low-income backgrounds, helping to tackle educational inequality in London. Full training and detailed resources provided, you will tutor a group of three pupils who are currently underperforming and provide them with the academic support, encouragement and inspiration they need to get back on track. You will be expected to volunteer for at least ten weeks (September-December).
