Volunteer Team go Micro-Volunteering

On the sunny afternoon of Wednesday 13 April, the Volunteering Team headed down to the Samuel Lewis Trust estate in Camberwell where we offered half a dozen pairs of hands for a couple of hours to paint a cargo container for Groundwork London’s Repurpose project.  The project aims to improve the estate environment, promote reuse, reduce waste and fly-tipping. Old and unwanted furniture is taken in and up-cycled by a team of volunteers, trainees and specially trained staff. The furniture is then sold back to the local community with unusable items being collected by the council.

He also volunteers as a Driver/ support for Sunrise Care Activity Hub in Wembley looking after customers with learning and physical disabilities.

Volunteer Story - Dorothy

Dorothy Gonsalves has been a resident of Wembley for 35 years and is a retired Home Office Civil Servant. Since retiring, she has offered her time to a number of non-profit organisations, including providing reading support at Barham primary school and volunteering as a room guide at Kenwood House in Hampstead. She is also an active member of the Keep Wembley Tidy residents group. Since January, Dorothy has been volunteering as an Educational Mentor with Salusbury World.
